Cherryville, NC (WNN) - In most towns, the sound of localised explosions would frighten the residents, but in Cherryville, North Carolina, that's just how things are done. With two groups of New Year's Shooters, New Year's Day will be as busy as ever, but these aren't the only events these groups have scheduled.

The Traditional New Year Shooters

On December 31st, you can join this group for two different events before they travel around Cherryville the next day. The first place to spot them is at the Lincolnton Apple Drop Festival, which will take place from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. They will then head to Cherryville for the Main Street New Year's Eve Celebration beginning at 10:30 PM on December 31st, 2025. They will start shooting at City Hall at midnight, then continue until around 7 PM on January 1st, where they will wrap up at the Great Outdoors.

If you can't make it outside on New Year's, this original group of shooters will be joining up with WCSL and KTC Broadcasting to bring the chant to everyone. This will take place at 10:30 AM on December 30th, 2025. Tune in online here or by switching your radio to 92.9 FM.

They will start at their traditional location, Black's Grill, at midnight, shooting all the way until they reach Rudisill Stadium at 7:00 PM the next day. If you'd like to tune in, the first and last shots will be livestreamed on both WNN YouTube and Facebook channels. We will also go live when the Cherryville New Years Shooters reach the Wise Companies Headquarters around 1:45 PM. Be sure to head out to the final shot at Rudisill Stadium to see a new and special volley fire round or "Salve" in German Style. Also at Rudisill Stadium, get your hands on this year's merchandise, where hats, hoodies, patches, and shirts will all be available for sale.
