Hoots & Haunts: Shelby Corn Maze Celebrates 26 Years

Posted

Shelby, NC (WNN) - With fall festivities taking place throughout October, Wise News Network is kicking off a new weekly series leading up to Halloween on October 31. “Hoots & Haunts” will take WNN around the area each week to explore fall events, attractions, and some of the spookier things happening in our community.

To kick off the series, WNN headed to the Shelby Corn Maze, where getting lost is part of the fun! Located just outside Shelby near Boiling Springs at 120 Broadway Dr, Shelby, NC, the eight-acre maze is celebrating 26 years of bringing fall fun to the area. But this year, the farm is getting a little patriotic with a theme centered around America’s 250th Birthday.

In preparations for opening day on September 19, 2026, the farm added a new seating area, food vendors, games, activities and other attractions for visitors to enjoy. Guests can also pick their own pumpkins, stroll through the U-pick flower area, meet the farm animals, and explore more than 40 attractions throughout the property.

“We try to be as family-oriented and fun and original as possible,”

And if getting lost in a corn maze isn’t spooky enough, the farm has something for those looking for an extra scare. The haunted corn maze, known as The Trail of Terror, returns every Friday and Saturday night throughout October.

With North Carolina’s unpredictable late-summer and fall weather, the size of the crowd can depend heavily on the conditions throughout the day. Keep an eye on the forecast and plan your visit around the weather to find the best time to enjoy everything the farm has to offer.

The Shelby Corn Maze is open Fridays from 4–10 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.–10 p.m., and Sundays from 2–8 p.m., now through November 1. For more information about ticket pricing and hours of operation, check out their website here.
