Gaston County, NC (WNN) - This time of year holds many important dates for municipalities, as it is when yearly budget documents are to be submitted and approved. Sometimes information on these can be hard to track down without attending every public meeting, so we’ve got a few from the local area, with what we know included.
Cherryville, NC FY 27 Budget - Cherryville will be hosting its public hearing on Monday, June 8, 2026, for the 2026-2027 budget cycle at 6 PM in the community building. This building is located at 108 S Jacob St, Cherryville, NC 28021. You can review the proposed budget here.
Dallas, NC FY 26/27 Budget - Dallas’ public hearing will be on June 9, 2026, at the Dallas Courthouse at 6 PM. The courthouse is at 131 N. Gaston Street, Dallas, NC. Copies of the draft budget should be available at Dallas Town Hall, 210 N. Holland St, Dallas, NC.
Lincolnton, NC FY 2027 Budget - Lincolnton will hold its public hearing on June 25, 2026, at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 114 W. Sycamore Street, Lincolnton, NC. The budget is not available online and must be obtained at the city hall from the city clerk.
Bessemer City FY2027 Budget - Bessemer City held its first public hearing for this budget on May 11, 2026. If necessary, they will hold a second public hearing on June 8. According to their site, the final adoption will occur on June 13, 2026. You can see a budget overview here or download the full city manager-recommended budget here.
Gaston County Board of Education Special Hearing for School Consolidation - This hearing is in regard to the potential closure of W.B. Beam Intermediate in Cherryville, NC. It will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Myers Center at Gaston College, 201 Highway 321 South, Dallas. The feasibility study conducted by the school is available here. The current information from the county is available here as well.
Shelby, NC FY 27 Budget - Shelby has passed its budget draft and has two available documents. The first is an approved budget breakdown available here. The second is the proposed budget FY 2026-2027, which is located here.
Belmont, NC FY2026-2027 Budget - Belmont held its public budget hearing on May 4, 2026, and considered a vote on June 1, 2026, at 6 PM. We are unsure of the budget's status at this time, but we can provide a link to the budget draft here, so you may look at it yourself.
Gastonia, NC FY27 Budget - Gastonia, NC also held its public hearing on May 4, 2026, and voted to adopt the budget, effective July 1, 2026. The full version of the proposed budget is in the link here.
