Trump to Visit Gastonia on September 16, 2026, for Whatley Campaign

Gastonia, NC (WNN) - On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 7:00 PM, President Donald Trump will speak at a Whatley campaign rally at the Gastonia Municipal Airport. This is in order to assist Michael Whatley in his campaign for a Senate seat. With the president coming to the city, this will entail road closures as listed below:

• Union Road
• Gaston Day School Road
• Robinson Road
• Bud Wilson Road

The roads will be under a soft closure, only allowing neighborhood traffic beginning at 10 AM tomorrow, and will be shut down completely beginning at 5:30 PM. The Gaston County Police warn that other roads in the vicinity may also be restricted. They also warn people not to park in the surrounding neighborhoods, as cars could be towed during the event.
