The Freedom Truck Mobile Museums Spread Knowledge Across The United States

Posted

Cherryville, NC (WNN) - On July 18, 2026, one of the six Freedom Truck Mobile Museums found its way to Cherryville's Larry and Carolyn Summer Recreation Center.  This free exhibit features an extensive look at the events that led up to the birth of America.  Every inch is covered in details and stories, making full use of the space provided by the tractor-trailer.  Much like a camper, once the truck is in place, the slides extend, and after some interior setup, the museum is ready for its next crowd.

What's Inside?

Walking into the first room of the exhibit, the talking portrait of George Washington will immediately catch your eye as this founding father educates you with his "first-hand account" of historical events. A bright, colorful gradient from red to blue compares the rule of King George the Third to the values sought by the country's founders. Reflecting each other, the Royal Proclamation of Rebellion and Sedition sits beside George, while the Olive Branch Petition can be found beside Washington. The proclamation in response to America's final attempt to be loyal to Britain, declared that it was necessary to "bring the traitors to justice. "

Continuing into the exhibit reveals much more about the nation's founding than just the simple beginnings of our country. Several touchscreen kiosks are offering short overviews, ranging from figures of the Continental Army to other movements towards democracy throughout history. Such a display even allows you to sign the Declaration of Independence yourself. The walls are packed, ceiling to floor, with information on different aspects of this time in America's history. The final wall before the exit extends further into America, with displays of information on many of America's brightest, including inventors, cultural icons, freedom fighters, and more.

Experience It Yourself

As a partnership between President Donald Trump and PragerU, six of these trucks are making stops across the nation throughout 2026. They can be found at fairs, in communities, and at celebrations to ensure the birth of the United States is celebrated, bringing knowledge to places where it isn't always accessible. To check if you'll have a stop near you, head to their site here. For NC residents, it is headed to Momeyer, NC, outside of Raleigh. The truck is currently scheduled through November of 2026, but the schedule page also includes an active link to request a stop in your area.

While the rolling attraction may not be stopping near you, there are more than one way to experience the museum's history. PragueU has produced a short video series highlighting some of the exhibits. Glenn Beck, known for his radio show and conservative news outlet, TheBlaze, voices each of these minute-long short films on eight topics found inside the truck. Each video educates on a single important object from American history, such as the Aitken Bible or the Fugitive Slave Statue.  You can see these shorts here to see what sort of things the museum has to offer.

One highlight of the museum is in the center of the second room. Spies are often seen as a new phenomenon in the media, but they have played a real role throughout history. The code used by the Culper Spy Ring was a three-digit code with each number assigned a meaning. It was basic compared to newer methods of encoding intelligence, but without counterintelligence, it helped America stand against the British.

"I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country."

~ Nathan Hale

Those were the final words of Nathan Hale as he was hanged. This was the inspiration for the spy network, which was formed in 1778. Despite forming it, even Washington was kept in the dark about the identities of all the spies. However, we do know that the route began in Robert Townsend's New York home and was transported on horseback to Austin Roe, who pretended to trade supplies. From Roe, it went to Caleb Brewster, who ferried it to Fairfield, Connecticut, before reaching the ringleader Benjamin Tallmadge and General Washington.

We won't spoil the rest of the museum, but if you're an American history buff or want to learn a little more about your country, it is recommended to visit one of these six trucks.
