Shelby, NC (WNN)—Shelby residents won't have to wait much longer for a new restaurant. Longhorn Steakhouse will open its doors at 1235 E. Dixon Blvd on September 8, 2025, at 3 p.m.
Work on the new LongHorn Steakhouse began earlier this year. It will be located on the former site of the Fatz restaurant, which was built in 2000 and was demolished for new development.
The construction crews have moved quickly. The framing for the building is almost done, and opening day is right around the corner. The property, which was initially listed for $1.44 million in 2023, sold for $1.25 million last December, according to Coldwell Banker Realty.
LongHorn Steakhouse is an American dining chain founded in 1981 in Atlanta, Georgia, by George McKerrow Jr. and his dad. The idea was to create a Texas-style roadhouse vibe, serving generous portions and focusing on quality grilled steaks.
With its Western-themed décor and relaxed atmosphere, LongHorn's menu features hand-seasoned, expertly cooked steaks. The chain also offers chicken, seafood, and fresh salads. Over the years, it has steadily expanded and now has nearly 600 locations across the U.S. and some international markets.
With the grand opening scheduled for September 8 at 3 p.m., Shelby restaurants can look forward to something new. LongHorn Steakhouse seems like it will be a hit, bringing fresh dining choices to the area and enhancing the lively food scene in the city.
