Trump’s Peace Deal Collapses Amid New Iran-Israel Attacks

Posted

Washington, DC (WNN)— A “full and absolute ceasefire” that President Donald Trump independently declared between Israel and Iran fell apart almost immediately on Tuesday, June 24, as both countries blamed one another for initiating new assaults, indicating a risky escalation just days following the U. S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

Trump’s Announced Peace Agreement Falls Apart Quickly

On Monday, June 23, President Trump declared that Israel and Iran had reached a “complete and total ceasefire,” According to CBS News, he presented a plan for gradual implementation, where Iran would stop strikes at midnight ET on Tuesday, Israel would do so 12 hours later, and all hostilities would completely end by midnight ET on Wednesday.

The declaration followed a phase of heightened regional strain, which involved Israeli attacks on Iranian sites and the U. S. military intervention targeting Iran’s nuclear sites. Nevertheless, the announced ceasefire turned out to be temporary. Only a few hours following Trump’s declaration, the pact fell apart due to a resurgence of violence and reciprocal blame.

New Attacks and Blame Threaten Truce

Israel swiftly alleged that Iran breached the ceasefire by firing more missiles into its land after the truce was meant to take effect. A military representative from Israel told The Associated Press that two missiles were shot down just hours after the ceasefire started.

This occurred after a lethal missile strike on Beersheba, which happened right before the truce was enacted and reportedly resulted in the deaths of four individuals. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that he had ordered the IDF to “react strongly to Iran’s breach of the ceasefire with significant strikes on regime targets in central Tehran,” as reported by Fox News. Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, who heads Israel’s military General Staff, stated again that Israel would “respond with force” to the actions of Iran, according to a report by Time Magazine.

In contrast, Iran’s state television dismissed claims of missile launches following the start of the ceasefire. It then charged Israel with carrying out its own attacks in Iran that allegedly resulted in the death of a prominent nuclear scientist, Mohammad Reza Sedighi Saber, in the northern region of the country.

Iran’s leading security organization has allegedly confirmed its support for the ceasefire, but it insisted on remaining “ready to act” in case of any breaches.

Trump Responds to Attacks

In return for the U.S. attacks, On Monday, June 23, Iran launched more than twelve missiles aimed at the large U.S. Al Udeid Air Force Base located in Qatar. This back-and-forth of assaults significantly escalated tensions in the area.

In a message posted to Truth Social, on June 23, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the missile strike:

“Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was “set free,” because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction. I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their “system,” and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured. Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Trump also showed his discontent with both countries for breaching the recently established ceasefire. Trump told reporters that he was “not happy” with either nation.

“Iran did. Israel did, too. I’m not happy with Israel. Don’t go out the first hour. Not happy with Iran, either,” mentioning that the two countries “have been fighting for so long that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing. In a separate message posted on Truth Social, He explicitly called on Israel to not drop the bombs. “DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!

Subsequently, Trump noted that Israel had stepped back from its warning to strike Tehran. Netanyahu’s office verified that Israel avoided further assaults after Trump intervened directly, as reported by The Associated Press.

Global Concerns Increase Following US Attacks

The ceasefire fell apart right after U. S. forces attacked Three key Iranian nuclear sites: Natanz, Fordow, and a third location that is said to be utilized for uranium storage. According to Fox News, the Pentagon has verified that they deployed strong “bunker buster” bombs and Tomahawk missiles to undermine Iran’s nuclear program.

The recent rapid developments and the unsuccessful ceasefire have left the Middle East in a state of tension. Currently, everyone is paying close attention to whether negotiations can prevent a larger and more harmful conflict. The U. S. has faced criticism from both China and Russia.
