Cherryville, NC (WNN) - Road conditions continue to improve Monday afternoon, February 2nd, 2026, as sunny skies and above freezing temps continue to melt the ice and snow in Cherryville, NC. Main roads are mostly clear and dry, while secondary/neighborhood roads are still icy and snow-covered in spots after Winter Storm Gianna hit the area on Saturday. City of Cherryville plow trucks could be seen working the streets to make the roads safer.
Most restaurants and stores, including the fast-food establishments in Cherryville that were supposed to be open on Mondays, were open. However, some are expected to close early due to overnight freezing temperatures.
Cherryville residents' most significant issue now will be getting out of their driveways. Leaf blowers, scraping, and shoveling are the best bet. Salt should be avoided, as it can cause concrete to crack and deteriorate.
With temperatures dropping into the teens on Monday night, water will refreeze, making driving more dangerous. Conditions should significantly improve on Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures rise above freezing both days. Stay safe, and stay up to date with WNN.
