An Unlikely Duo Makes Post Office Visit

Pig and Dog Spotted Roaming Cherryville, NC

Cherryville, NC (WNN) - Most people heading to the post office expect to see a line at the counter, a stack of packages, or maybe a familiar face.  But one Cherryville resident got a little more than she bargained for Friday morning when a pig and a dog decided to stop by.

Cherryville resident, Sarah Farley, was making a quick trip to the Cherryville Post Office around 8:50 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, when she encountered the unlikely duo approaching the building from the railroad tracks.

“I went into the post office around 8:50 this morning to drop off a package.  When I came out the doors, the pig and dog were walking up towards the post office from the railroad tracks,”
- Sarah Farley

The two animals appeared to be friendly, approaching the front door before making their way around the side of the building.  A pig and a dog walking up to the post office might not be a typical sight in Cherryville, but for Farley, it was an unexpected highlight of her morning. “I never expected to see a pig and dog outside the post office, but it made my day,” she said.

Around 10 a.m., Farley shared the encounter on Facebook, asking if anyone knew who the animals belonged to.  WNN contacted Sarah Sigmon, who confirmed that the animals belong to her parents.

"Pua is the pig, and Lady is the dog.  We are out of town at a funeral and have a family member checking on them, but it looks like they were able to push the gate open."

Fortunately, the unlikely duo had a happy ending.  Both Pua and Lady were reunited with their family and are back home safe.
