How To Get Your Power Restored Faster

Possible Catestrophic Storm Coming

Posted

Cherryville, NC (WNN)- North Carolina is expected to see a winter storm this weekend. It is important for Homeowners to be aware of a common issue that can slow power restoration after severe storms.

Homeowners Responsible for Electrical Service Repairs

Rusty Wise of Mister Sparky says damage to a home's electrical service- which includes the meter base, riser, or electrical panel needs to be repaired by an electrician before utility companies can restore power.

"If the meter base or riser is pulled off the house due to ice or wind, Duke Energy or other utilities will not reinstall it," Wise said. "That responsibility falls on the homeowner."

Utilities Can't Restore Power Until Repairs Are Made

Sometimes people make the mistake of waiting days without power after storms occur, assuming utility crews will eventually repair all the damage left behind. However, that is not true. An electrician should be called first. Once an electrician completes the repairs, your utility company can come to reconnect your power.

After Storm Damage

It is important to check your home for electrical damage after a storm and contact an electrician, such as Mister Sparky, if any damage is found.

Mister Sparky offers 24/7 emergency service during winter storms; they also have fully stocked service trucks available to respond to any outages.

As the saying goes, "No more Malarky. Call Mister Sparky." Their number is 704-435-3060

No matter the weather, stay safe and stay alert.
