Cherryville, NC (WNN) - Morning commuters in Cherryville got an unexpected delay Thursday after multiple trains began blocking railroad crossings around 7 AM. By 9:30 AM, the backup had stretched all the way to Highway 274/Mountain Street, leaving many drivers stuck waiting for the tracks to clear.
If more trains roll through town, drivers can avoid the wait by using the bridge near the post office on North Mulberry Street. Drivers are also encouraged to cross at Mountain and Main Street to get around the blockage.
WNN will provide updates as they become available.
As of 11:15 AM, all railroad crossings in Cherryville have been cleared. There are no traffic backups.
