Cherryville, NC (WNN) - The Lady Ironmen softball team returned to action this week after enjoying some time off for Spring break. It was a busy week for the ladies, and things began well for them. On April 13, they hosted Lincolnton in a rescheduled game from early in the season. Cherryville won 14-5. The rest of the week did not go as well, with Burns getting a 16-4 win in Cherryville and a 12-0 victory on their home field. The lopsided scores in the two games against the Lady Bulldogs are deceiving, as the Lady Bulldogs benefited from a big inning in each game. Despite the series sweep by the Lady Bulldogs, Cherryville is still holding a .500 record at 8-8 overall and 4-7 in conference play. No rest for these girls as they will again have a 3-game week. The Lady Ironmen have been resilient all season and will have plenty of chances to move forward as they begin a new week with 3 games scheduled. This is a very young team that lost significant experience from last season. There is plenty of young talent on the team; they just need experience and time to form some team chemistry.
