Gaston County (WNN) - While some readers may be ready to stay in this weekend from all the excitement surrounding the 250th anniversary of the nation, we’ve got events for those with gas left in the tank. All events will have links to our event calendar for more information.
This weekend kicks off today with the first event, Freeze Pop Friday. This will be held at the Dallas Splash Pad from 11 AM to 12 PM, with more information in the link here. For those willing to travel a little further, Lenoir is holding its annual NC Blackberry Festival on July 10th and 11th this weekend. It will feature vendors, live music, a Kids Zone, and plenty of BlackBerry-based dishes. Family’s with adoration for that Disney charm can settle down on Saturday night with Belmont’s movie in the park program. This weekend, the classic Beauty and the Beast will be at Stowe Park.
As many of you may know, Burns High School student Turner Morris was injured on June 13, 2026. You can read about that here. Starting at noon on July 11, 2026, you can head out to 4852 Dallas Cherryville Hwy, Bessemer City, NC 28016 to pick up lunch and help support Morris’s recovery. The fundraiser will feature BBQ plates, BBQ Butts, and bulk BBQ, while supplies last.
Plant lovers rejoice, because plant bingo is back in Lincolnton. For the price of $15 dollars, you can take part in 10 rounds starting at 6 PM on June 10, 2026. Each game will give you the chance to add a little bit more to your sunroom or garden. If you missed the Cherryville Little Theatre’s rendition of it, head out tonight or Saturday to CCC to see Bright Star. It will begin at 7:30 PM both nights, with tickets being $15 per person. This weekend will also have the Dallas Farmers Market on Sunday. This is open every second and fourth Sunday from 12 PM to 4 OM at 147 Sandcastle Road, Dallas, NC.
This week, Saint John's Lutheran Church reached out to let us know about their School Supply Drive coming up on August 8th from 10 AM to 12 PM. This event is to support the children of Cherryville and can be registered for by calling the phone number in the link here.
