Charlotte-Shelby, NC (WNN)—The Harvest Moon seemed to be in full force on Monday, October 6th, 2025. This week's Harvest Full Moon, a Supermoon, is when the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit. The word Harvest comes from Native American culture, where fall farming items such as corn, grains, pumpkins, etc., could be gathered at night by the moon's light. While there are conflicting studies on how a full moon affects people, incidents seem to rise in the days around it. The word "lunacy" is derived from the word moon.
On Monday, October 6th, a woman at the Family Dollar Store at 2022 North Graham Street in Charlotte, NC, complimented another woman on her NASCAR shirt. Then, the woman asked the NASCAR-shirted woman to remove her shirt because she wanted it. A fight ensued, with the woman also throwing water bottles out of a cooler. After leaving the store briefly, the lady returned with a gun and pointed it at the customers. Reports state the woman had her child with her the whole time while demanding the shirt. The gun-wielding lady was arrested without the NASCAR shirt. It is not readily known what was on the NASCAR shirt.
On Friday, October 3rd, a fight broke out at the KFC at 1102 E Dixon Bld (Hwy 74) in Shelby, NC. A video shows a man arguing with a KFC employee at the counter. A few moments later, the man appears to be spitting at the employee, and a fight ensues. The fight continues through the dining area in front of a sign that reads "A Real Meal Is A Meal Made The Hard Way" and then into the parking lot. The video is below.
Other altercations happened this past week; these are just a couple of incidents highlighted in the NC Piedmont area. Thank goodness no significant injuries were reported in these two. The next full moons will be supermoons. The Beaver Supermoon will be on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, and the Cold Supermoon will be on December 4th, 2025. Stay safe out there with the next full supermoons.
