Cherryville, NC (WNN)—Cherryville is preparing for its annual Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 3rd. The event will take place on Main Street starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m. with a fireworks show.
At noon, the area between McGinnis Furniture, Main Street Tire & Lube, Houser Drug, and The Pink building closed to set up the stage.
By 2 p.m., most of Main Street will be closed. This includes the Chamber of Commerce Parking lot, Mini Park Parking Lot, Part of North Alley, Jacob St, and Oak St. Parking is prohibited in these areas.
Vendors will begin arriving and setting up between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Approximately 15 to 20 food trucks will be on-site for the event. These Food trucks will be located on Oak Street and Main Street, closest to the Mountain Street intersection. Kids' play games will be set up on Oak Street, and the Beer Garden will be on the Chamber lawn.
By 5 p.m., Main Street will be completely locked down, and vehicles will not be allowed to enter or exit past this time. Festivities with a DJ begin at 6 p.m., followed by a band performance by the Voltage Brothers at 7 p.m.
Annalise Boutique will be open until 10 p.m. tonight. The Boutique offers various sales, including 30% off Judy Blue jeans and shorts, 30 % off Simply Southern apparel and accessories, and 30% off swimwear. Amber Dellinger, the owner of the Boutique, expressed her hope that visitors will stop by the store, noting that these events often encourage business and ultimately benefit all downtown businesses. Other businesses, such as Deja Vu and Monkey Business, will also be open for the celebration.
Regarding dining options, The Fuzzy Cow and Mr Chili will open on Main Street, in addition to numerous food trucks. Attendees can enjoy chocolate waffle cones with sprinkles and frozen lemonade bomb pops from The Fuzzy Cow. Mr Chili will remain open until 10 p.m.
The fireworks show will include 4" mortars that will ascend between 350 and 400 feet. The pyrotechnicians are regional operators out of Winston with Munnerlyn Fireworks. They've been in operation for 20 years, and Munnerlyn covers locations in both the Carolinas and Georgia. The pyrotechnicians advise that the fallout radius for these fireworks is 300 feet, so remember to stay back from the launch area.
The fireworks show is scheduled to begin between 10 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. They will be launched from the Larry & Carolyn Summer Recreation Center south of Main Street. Prime viewing areas include the Gazebo Mini-Park, Main Street from the Chamber to the Homefolks area, and the Chamber Parking lot.
WNN will be LIVE streaming the fireworks show on Facebook and YouTube beginning at approximately 10:00 PM on the Wise News Network LIVE feeds.
