Altercation Leads To Shooting at Lincoln County Camp Ground

Lincoln County (WNN) - As per the press release below, one man was shot and fatally wounded after an altercation broke out in the early morning on August 23rd. The event occurred at Tucker's Grove Camp Meeting, a campsite near East Lincoln High School on Highway 73. As of August 25, 2026, the victim's identity has not been released, nor has the suspect been identified. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office News Release:

On 08/23/26 at approximately 1:20 AM Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies were providing security services at Tuckers Grove Campground, located at 4501 Hwy 73 Iron Station, when a disturbance involving a firearm occurred. During the disturbance an individual was shot by an unknown suspect. The suspect was pursued by deputies but fled the area. Deputies on scene as well as Lincoln County EMS personnel provided lifesaving measures, and the victim was transported to Atrium Main but died a short time later. The name of the victim is not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
