Ripple Fiber Progresses in Cherryville, Targets 2025 Completion
By: Wise News Network Staff
Cherryville, NC (WNN) — Ripple Fiber, a company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, focused on building and delivering high-speed fiber optic internet services, is making significant strides in its effort to connect Cherryville. The company’s ongoing infrastructure project has reached 60% completion, signaling progress towards bringing faster and more reliable internet access to the community.
Service Rollout Underway
As of April 11th, 2025, service is available to 1,198 homes in the city. Ripple Fiber representatives said 1,379 homes remain to be passed, and the project is on track for completion by November 2025.
“Ripple Fiber has successfully launched in select areas of Cherryville,” said Emily Francois, corporate communications director for Ripple Fiber’s Charlotte Metro region. “Those customers are now connected to our fast, reliable fiber internet.”
Service Availability and Community Impact
Francois said residents can expect minimal disruption during the ongoing construction. Ripple Fiber does not anticipate any road closures.

The Green Boxes: Stepping Stones to Your Fast Internet
As Ripple Fiber builds its high-speed network in Cherryville, you may see green boxes around the area. These boxes are important connection points in the ground. Think of them as vital links in the chain that allows the fast fiber optic cables to reach neighborhoods. From these boxes, the internet signal will eventually travel through cables that connect directly to individual homes, bringing that high-speed service inside. Most boxes are below the surface, but some green pedestals are above grade. The streets in Cherryville have anywhere from 20 feet to 60 feet right-of-ways, so Ripple and other utilities are allowed to dig and install equipment within those areas.
The Rectangle Pot Holes
Drivers may experience rectangular cut-outs on the paved roads throughout the city. These cut-outs by Ripple are to locate existing underground utilities such as water and natural gas. Locating these lines properly will eliminate potential damage caused by boring equipment. Cold patching in these areas has been done recently, and according to city officials, the city’s paving contractor may perform a more permanent patch. If not repaired correctly, these rectangular cut-outs may become permanent potholes. City of Cherryville officials stated no agreements or contracts were made with Ripple Fiber regarding construction guidelines or roadwork patching.
Community Outreach at Cherry Blossom Festival
Ripple Fiber will have a booth at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Cherryville next week to provide residents with more information. Residents can visit the booth to learn more about the service or call 1-800-359-5767.
