Officer Involved Shooting in Cherryville NC

Cherryville, NC (WNN) – An officer involved shooting in Cherryville has occurred at the corner of Ray St. and West Second St.

Per Cherryville Police Department press release, officers responded to a civil disturbance and an officer shot the suspect who was fatally wounded. 

As of February 5, 2024 update, the suspect was named as Thomas Michael Gregory Rivera, 35. (see press release below)

The State Bureau of Investigations is investigating the incident. The involved officer has been put on administrative leave until the investigation is finalized.
