Cherryville, NC (WNN)— A brand-new Dollar Tree Plus has opened its location at 2301 Lincolnton Highway, adding a 10,000-square-foot retail space to the growing east side of Cherryville. As part of a larger commercial development, the store will bring an expanded selection of products, including items priced up to $5. The new location is expected to serve the increasing traffic along Highway 150 in Cherryville and attract even more businesses to the area.

“This side is really growing, the traffic count is growing on Hwy 150,” said WNN Owner and Founder Rusty Wise. According to Wise, more businesses are coming that haven’t been announced yet.
Two Years In The Making
The new Dollar Tree Plus is the result of two years of project procurement by Wise Electric Control Inc., along with Wise Real Estate Inc., both of Cherryville, NC. Piedmont Companies of Lincolnton, NC, and Laurence Development of Davidson, NC, were the developers of the project. Pine Contracting of Virginia was the General Contractor. This deal represents a major investment in the area, showing that Cherryville’s economy is growing and that there is a rising demand for retail stores.
Meanwhile, a steady stream of customers flowed in and out of the store, curious about the new offerings. Inside, shelves were stocked with a mix of Dollar Tree staples and premium items, a key feature of the “Plus” concept.
Customer Reactions: Excitement Over Selection and Value
Among the many to shop at the new location was Ruby, from Shelby, N.C., who visited the store two days in a row. “Oh, it’s nice. I’ll be back,” she exclaimed. “They’ve got stuff in the freezers—meat, and things like that, and I love that.”

Ruby shared what keeps her coming back to this location. “Most of all, I like the cheddar popcorn,” she said, laughing, explaining that she was stocking up for the Super Bowl. “Oh yeah, got my chicken wings too!”
The store’s wide selection and affordability seemed to be a big hit with customers, especially those looking to stay within budget while shopping for everyday necessities and special occasions
Inside the Store: General Manager Highlights Expanded Product Offerings
Sheila Gamble, general manager of the store, said the Dollar Tree Plus model can carry more items than a typical Dollar Tree.

“We carry bacon, Tony’s Pizza, and more named-brand products,” Gamble said. “Prices range from $1.25 to $5, but nothing goes over $5. It gives the public more variety and better products in general.”
This location is the second Dollar Tree in town, but the original store, located on the other side of the city, remains open. “I brought some of my managers and a stocker from the other store,” Gamble said. “The original Dollar Tree will stay open, so now we have one at each end of Cherryville.”
Staffing and Store Hours
Currently, the new store employs about 15 people, though Gamble said this number is subject to change based on sales. “If business stays strong, we can keep all 15 employees,” she said. “If not, they’ll be transferred to other stores, so nobody has to lose their job.”
The store operates from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
A Look at the Shelves: Snacks, Household Goods, and More
Going down the rows, Gamble highlighted some of the recent additions to the store’s inventory.
“There’s a new snack zone carrying a range from Red Bull, Gatorade, and cold Mountain Dew beverages to coffee,” she enthused. “We also have Lay’s potato chips, peanuts, and other energy-boosting snacks.”

Additionally, for customers stocking up for game-day parties, the freezer case is packed.
“We have Sonic tots, Checkers fries, seasoned fries, onion rings, hash browns, Tony’s and Red Baron pizzas, and even Snickers ice cream bars,” Gamble said. “It’s all about giving people more choices.”

Besides food, the store additionally carries a large variety of household goods. “We carry larger packs of paper towels, trash bags, storage totes, and even pet care products,” she said. “We also carry electronic accessories like earbuds, charging cubes, and gaming headsets.
Seasonal and Party Supplies a Big Draw
Moreover, with Valentine’s Day and Easter approaching, the store is well-stocked with seasonal items. “We have Easter baskets, bunny ears, and a lot of candy,” Gamble said. “Our seasonal aisle is constantly changing, and we’ll be getting more stock in weekly.”

In addition, there is a party section in the store. “We have football party supplies, wine glasses, artificial flowers, and all kinds of decorations,” she said. “It’s great for people planning celebrations on a budget.”
Community Excitement and Positive Feedback
Several families shopping at the new store expressed their excitement. The Alexander family praised the expanded selection. “It’s beautiful. Great selection compared to other Dollar Trees around here,” one family member said.
Even young shoppers were impressed. The Alexander’s son, holding a lollipop, grinned as he shared his thoughts: “ I liked it so much.”
A Promising Future for Cherryville’s Newest Retail Space
As Cherryville grows, undoubtedly, the new Dollar Tree Plus will likely become a popular shopping destination for residents. With its spacious aisles, well-stocked shelves, and budget-friendly pricing, the store is already making a positive impact. The sore had impressive sales of over $8,000 on its first day of opening, reflecting its strong start in the community.
It’s something new for Cherryville,” Gamble said. “It gives people more variety and a new shopping experience. We love it and we hope the community will too.”
For now, customers like Ruby are already planning their next visit. “I don’t know what I might get tomorrow,” she said with a smile. ” It depends on the weather!”
Furthermore, The store’s early success and strong customer response indicate that Cherryville’s newest addition is here to stay.
