Mister Sparky Donates Thousands Of Smoke Detectors To Black Mountain NC

Black Mountain, NC (WNN) – Mister Sparky of Charlotte and Cherryville, NC, delivered thousands of fire and smoke detectors to Black Mountain, NC, on Monday.
Hurricane Helene
The Black Mountain area and western North Carolina experienced catastrophic damage when Hurricane Helene moved inland on September 27, 2024. The region, battered by heavy rain and winds, resulted in record flooding, downed trees, and landslides. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper described Helene as the worst natural disaster in the state’s history.
Wise Companies
Since the storm hit, the Wise Companies, which include Mister Sparky by Wise Electric Control Inc., Wise Real Estate Inc., and Wise News Network, have been receiving donations for the western North Carolina relief efforts. Donations have been collected at the company’s headquarters, 1242 Shelby Hwy in Cherryville, NC.
The Wise Companies President, Rusty Wise, stated, ” We witnessed the devastation caused by Helene in western North Carolina and felt compelled to help in any way possible. Our Wise News division has made multiple trips to the North Carolina mountains for coverage, and we’ve also delivered tons of needed goods to the Black Mountain and Swannanoa areas of North Carolina on several trips”.
Mister Sparky Smoke Detectors Delivered
On November 4, 2024, approximately 2,400 Mister Sparky smoke and fire detectors were delivered to the Black Mountain Fire Department at 106 Montreat Rd, Black Mountain, NC. When asked if he could use any, Black Mountain Fire Chief John Coffey responded, “We will take as many as you are willing to donate!”
Since Hurricane Helene, there has been little rainfall, increasing fire risks in the mountain areas. People are burning wood and using other methods to keep warm, which heightens the danger of fires.
“If one of these Mister Sparky smoke detectors saves a life, then it’s all worth it,” said Rusty Wise. In addition, Wise thanked everyone who has donated: “We’ve had a tremendous outpouring of donations, including donations from the Cherryville New Years Shooters, and I would like to thank everyone who has helped. It’s amazing what people can do when they come together for a cause”.
