A Longstanding Vision

“This facility has been a dream for over 20 years,” said Lance Hudson, Chair of Parks and Recreation. “We’ve always wanted our own indoor space for basketball, volleyball, and other activities. Until now, we relied on the school system’s facilities. This center represents a significant step forward for Cherryville.”

Hudson praised Gaston County, the City of Cherryville, and the Summer family for making the project a reality.

Community-Centered Programs

The recreation center already has an impressive roster of activities underway. More than 200 children, from kindergarten to eighth grade, are currently participating in the basketball program. Plans are in motion to expand offerings to include girls’ volleyball, senior craft workshops, pickleball, and even cornhole tournaments.
