Helicopter Easter Bunny: Nascar Racer Greg Biffle Brings Easter Joy
By: Lauren Ramsey – Wise News Network
Black Mountain, NC (WNN)— NASCAR legend Greg Biffle returned to the skies over Black Mountain, North Carolina, on Saturday, April 19th. This time with a mission far different from the emergency flights he piloted just months earlier. On a clear spring afternoon, Biffle’s helicopter hovered above a crowd to deliver 1,000 brightly colored Easter eggs—airborne cheer for children still recovering from Hurricane Helene.
Using his own helicopter and documenting the event on his YouTube channel, Biffle and a friend dressed in an Easter Bunny Costume released the eggs over an open field filled with waiting children and families. The moment was captured from both the ground and the air.
“This Easter Saturday, we took things to the next level—literally,” Biffle wrote in the video description. “We suited up as the Easter Bunny and took to the skies in a helicopter to drop thousands of Easter eggs on a field full of excited kids and families all supporting Valley Hope Foundation.”
From Crisis to Celebration
This Easter event came just over six months after Hurricane Helene swept through Western North Carolina in fall 2024. The Category 4 storm brought destructive winds, flash flooding, and widespread landslides, leaving many mountain communities without power, clean water, or communication.
The storm caused severe damage to infrastructure, roadways, and housing across the region. In its immediate aftermath, Biffle used his helicopter to fly more than 40 relief missions. He delivered emergency supplies such as water, food, baby formula, and communications equipment to isolated communities, helping local authorities reach people stranded in the mountains.
“I haven’t been up here flying since the hurricane,” Biffle said in his Easter video. “It’s nice to get back and fly for a different reason.”
Powered by Community Support
This Easter egg drop was made possible with the help of the Valley Hope Foundation, a nonprofit organization working to rebuild lives and restore hope in the areas most affected by Hurricane Helene. The foundation supported the event and brought families together for the celebration.
The helicopter circled above the field before making the drop, as children sprinted across the grass to collect the eggs. Families watched and cheered from the sidelines, marking one of the first large community gatherings since the storm.
A Legacy of Support
Though best known for his successful NASCAR career, Biffle has remained active in humanitarian efforts since stepping back from racing full time. His work in Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene received praise both locally and within the racing community.
This Easter event was a low-key but meaningful follow-up to those earlier efforts, highlighting a different kind of lift—one aimed at bringing joy, rather than supplies, to a community still in recovery.
