Former Mayor Wade Stroupe Jr. Announces Candidacy for Cherryville Mayor
Cherryville, NC (WNN)— Wade H Stroupe Jr., who previously served two terms as Mayor of Cherryville from 1999 to 2003. has formally announced his candidacy for the upcoming Cherryville City Election on November 4th, 2025. The announcement was made on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

Stroupe greeted citizens and shared his reasons for running, his campaign platform, and his goals for the city at his booth, #114, throughout the day.
This marks Stroupe’s return to the political arena in Cherryville. During his previous terms, he gained experience in local governance and a deep understanding of the community’s needs. Now, he is looking to bring that experience back to the Mayor’s office.

Stroupe is the first candidate to announce a run for Cherryville’s mayor position. Gary Freeman and Jill Puett, who have not officially announced their plans, currently hold the other Cherryville City Council seats up for election this year. The Cherryville City Election is scheduled for November 4th, 2025.
