Cherryville, NC (WNN)- Dell Garren, a former retired Cherryville Police officer, who was previously arrested in October on stalking charges, has once again been taken into custody for similar charges. After his December 12th, 2024 arrest, authorities have implemented strict conditions for his potential release to safeguard the victim.
Bail Set at $250,000
Garren, now with felony charges, was issued a secured bond of $250,000. If he cannot meet the bond, he will remain in custody. Alternatively, he can utilize a bail bondsman by paying a nonrefundable $25,000 fee. However, he was unable to meet the bond requirements within the three-hour timeframe and will be moved out of Gaston County since he was an officer within the county.
Ankle Monitor Requirement
If released, Garren would need to wear an ankle monitor, which alerts the victim if he comes within 1,000 feet of her location.
Protective Order Issued
A 50-B order of protection has been issued against Garren, barring any contact with the victim and establishing strict safety boundaries.
Probation Oversight
If released at a later date, Garren will be required to report to a probation officer, ensuring additional supervision and compliance with legal measures.
History of Stalking Charges
Garren was previously arrested for stalking in October. According to police, it allegedly happened over months in Cherryville. Video footage reportedly showed Garren walking around a womanโs home at night and looking into her car, despite her repeated warnings to stay away. Arrest warrants accuse Garren of following the woman in her car and making multiple unwanted phone calls. Garren was recently sworn in as a reserve officer for the Town of Ranlo, NC.
