Fatal Shooting Leads to an Arrest and Rescue

GASTONIA, NC (WNN) – Gaston County Police responded to a domestic disturbance at approximately 3:00 a.m. on March 6, 2024. The incident led to a standoff with officers. When officers entered the home they discovered a deceased person.ย
According to a press release from the Gaston County Police Department (GCPD), officers responded to the disturbance at 111 Chrisco Lane in Gastonia. When officers arrived they heard shots from inside the residence.
Shots were fired at the officers, prompting the responders to call for backup from the Gaston County Emergency Response Team (ERT). The press release states that one person was initially rescued.
“Officers initially rescued one person from the home, who told them there was one person being held hostage as well as one person with a possible gunshot wound,” stated the press release.ย
ERT conducted a rescue operation where one other individual was rescued and one individual was found deceased. Officers arrested a suspect.ย
On Thursday, March 7, 2024, GCPD released the name of the suspect. David Pace was arrested and charged with murder, kidnapping, possession of a firearm as a felon and assault by pointing a firearm.
GCPD is working with the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the incident. This is an active investigation. WNN will provide more updates as information becomes available.
