By: Wise News Network Staff
Spruce Pine, NC (WNN)- The community of Downtown Spruce Pine is getting ready for their annual Alien Festival happening on Saturday June 14th. It will be a day filled with otherworldly fun and community spirit.
Festival Details
This is a free event located off of Oak Avenue. Visitors can explore a mix of space-themed fun and small-town charm. The festivities are happening all day, with vendors wrapping things up by 6:30 PM and the main stage activities on the Milky Way Stage finishing up around 7:00 PM.
Parking is free and can be found by looking for the UFO parking signs. Information for parking can be found on the official Spruce Pine Alien Festival Facebook Page.
A Galactic Gathering: From Vendors to Live Bands
Youโll find over 200 vendors selling all kinds of UFO and alien-themed merchandise. Many vendors have made handmade products for this event. You can also check out the free alien foodie fest on the corner of Oak and Walnut Avenue, where you can try different food samples and “alien drink concoctions” promising truly out-of-this-world flavors.
The festival has fun activities planned, such as an Area 51 costume contest where you can show off your wild alien outfits. If you’re looking for something thrilling, they’ve got an alien-themed train, axe throwing, and even water balloon pops.
Local shops also get in on the action with special sales and promotions. You can get deals while supporting the town. You’ll also find live music all day, with different bands playing on two stages. Kids can jump around in bounce houses, and there’s a “close encounter zone” if you want a more hands-on experience.
Don’t forget to look up as it gets dark because they’ll have skywatching events celebrating Spruce Pine’s connection to outer space.
Spruce Pine’s Cosmic Connection: A Real-Life UFO Hotspot
The choice for an alien festival isn’t a random idea for Spruce Pine; the town is one of the top 10 spots in the U.S. for UFO sightings. Some think this is because of the dark skies and quartz mines, which might catch the eye of aliens from space.
There have been many sightings, with locals and tourists sharing their experiences. For example, many saw a UFO sit over the Spruce Pine Inn, and another one was spotted flying over the Grassy Creek golf course.
Sherry Sautner, coordinator for the Alien Festival, told the story of her husband seeing a UFO over their property in December of Last Year. She claims the UFO was over 100 feet wide and about two to three stories high, with weird windows on its sides. These real-life experiences make the festival special, connecting it to genuine local stories.
