Cooling Station Now Open In Gastonia NC

GASTONIA, N.C. (WNN) – Due to temperatures nearing 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the region this week, a cooling station has opened in Gastonia. The station is at The Salvation Army Center of Home in Downton Gastonia, 107 S. Broad St. Gastonia, NC.
County Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) and Gaston County Community Support Services (CSS) have collaborated with The Salvation Army to open the public cooling station, which will offer assistance to those in need, according to a press release.
The station, conveniently located at The Salvation Army Center of Home in Downton Gastonia, 107 S. Broad St. Gastonia, will be open 8am to 5pm, 7 days a week, providing a reliable and accessible solution to cope with the extreme heat.
CSS is collecting needed supplies, such as cooling towels, coolers, snacks, water, etc., for those in need and has an Amazon Wish List. Donations can be directly sent to Community Support Services through Amazon.
