Cherryville, NC (WNN)- On Friday morning, November 1, 2024, Walmart at 2505 Lincolnton Highway, Cherryville, NC, celebrated its grand reopening after an extensive 12-week remodel. The Cherryville Walmart store is number 4594, which first opened in 2008. This marked this significant milestone with a lively community event that included a prayer by Pastor Matt Thomas, a performance of the national anthem, remarks from local officials, and a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Community Blessing and Celebration
The ceremony started with a prayer led by Pastor Matt Thomas of Second Baptist Church. He expressed gratitude for the blessings the store brings to the community. “Let today be the beginning of a new day of excitement, enthusiasm, and joy,” he said, setting a positive tone for the celebration.
Remarks from Local Leadership
Cherryville Mayor H.L. Beam addressed the crowd, emphasizing the city’s appreciation for Walmart’s long standing partnership. “Walmart has always been a place where you can find affordable prices,” he remarked, highlighting the store’s vital role in the local economy. He also noted Walmart’s contributions to charitable organizations, particularly those supporting veterans, stating that the company has donated over $10 million to military-related initiatives since 2022.

Store manager Robert Kendrick took a moment to recognize the dedication of the store’s associates, especially during the challenging remodeling process. “I’m honored to work with you all,” he stated, expressing pride in the teamwork that made the renovations possible. Kendrick also acknowledged the contributions of visiting associates who lent their support during the remodel, reinforcing the sense of community among Walmart employees.

Marketing Manager Phebe Simpson highlighted the store’s significant upgrades. Vendors, including Milo’s Tea Company, Takis, and Sundrop, contributed to the lively atmosphere. Kendrick remarked on the uplifting energy surrounding the reopening, saying, “It feels like Christmas time today.”

The highlight of the celebration was a ribbon-cutting ceremony that officially marked the store’s reopening. Associates who have been with Walmart since its first opening day participated in this symbolic act.
