Cherryville NC Kicks Off American Legion State Tournament

Cherryville, NC (WNN) – What’s a great way to start a baseball tournament? It’s with music and food, of course. Cherryville, NC, began the NC State American Legion Tournament yesterday, 7-18-2024, with beach music, BBQ, Tacos, beer and more.

‘The free concert, featuring the Band of Oz and DJ Johnny B, was held at Cherryville Mini Park on Main Street. Although rain threatened in the evening, hundreds still showed up to enjoy the rain-free event with cooler temperatures in the 70’s.

The senior boys’ tournament will run from Saturday, July 20th, through Wednesday, July 24th. A “Parade of Teams” will flow down the main street of Cherryville at 5 PM today, 7-19-2024. The reception banquet/hall event at the First Baptist Church will be at 6 PM tonight, and a free home run derby event will start at 8 PM at Fraley Field. Eight teams from North Carolina, including the Cherryville Post 100 host team, are vying for the NC crown at Fraley Field located at 401 E First St. Two local teams to the tournament location are also in the field of teams, Shelby Post 82 and Union County Post 535.
