Cherryville, NC (WNN) – On Veterans Day, November 11th, 2024, in Cherryville, North Carolina residents gathered to honor and celebrate those who have served in the U.S. military with a parade and ceremony that emphasized unity and gratitude. The ceremony began with a prayer led by local veteran Ned Yates, who expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by fallen soldiers and veterans. Reggie Walker, the son-in-law of Cherryville’s Mayor H.L. Beam, delivered a speech reflecting on the courage and commitment of veterans. “Veterans are sons and daughters, fathers and mothers. They answered a call greater than themselves,” Walker stated, urging the community to listen to their stories and offer support.

Veterans Day Parade In Downtown Cherryville

Veterans, families, and supporters lined the street as the parade progressed east on Main Street through downtown Cherryville, starting at City Hall and concluding at Gazebo Park. Local leaders such as Mayor Beam and other city officials attended to show their appreciation.

American Legion Honor Guard Recognized for Service
