GASTON COUNTY, NC (WNN) – A camper explosion outside McAdenville injured a man and a woman on Monday, March 25, 2024. The explosion occurred around 10 p.m. on Ferrell Grove Road.

According to a press release from Gaston County Emergency Management and Fire Services (GCEMFS), Gaston County Emergency Services (GEMS), Belmont Fire Department, Gaston County Police Department, and the Belmont Police Department were among nine emergency response departments that answered the call.

GCEMFS investigated the explosion’s cause and determined a propane leak from a water heater as the culprit. The house next to the camper also sustained damage from the explosion.

GEMS transported both injured individuals to CaroMont Regional Medical Center for treatment of burns. The woman was discharged Tuesday morning, March 26, 2024.

However, the man was transferred to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist’s Burn Center, where he was treated for second and first-degree burns to the face and head.ย
