By: Wise News Network Staff
Cherryville, NC (WNN) – A Cherryville family is asking for community support after their father, Julian Emyord Guadarrama Mota, a manager at Eaker Dairy Inc. located at 610 Roy Eaker Rd Cherryville, NC 28021, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on June 4th, 2025.
How It Happened
His son, also named Julian Guadarrama, says police officers told his father’s boss, Cameron Eaker, that a tip led to the arrest.

“My father, Julian Emyord Guadarrama Mota, was on his way to work on the morning of June 4th when he was stopped on his way to work. He is a manager at Eaker Dairy Inc. I was later informed within the next two days that my father’s boss, Cameron Eaker, found out that a tip was given about my father. He was told this by police officials”. The family is unsure who gave police officers the tip or why they did so.
A Life Built in the U.S
Julian Emyord Guadarrama Mota immigrated to the U.S. from Santa Fe, Guerrero, Mexico, in 1985 when he was just 16 years old. He came to the U.S. wanting a better life for himself, especially for his future family since he knew that wouldn’t happen in his small hometown. Over the years, Julian had four children: Oscar, Julian, Nancy, and Yanet.
In 2009, he gained full custody of them due to their mother’s health issues and has been raising them on his own ever since. The children grew up in Olin, NC, a small town on the outskirts of Statesville before the family relocated to Cherryville in late 2018 when Guadarrama Mota got a job at Eaker Dairy Inc. All four children have since graduated from high school, with Julian, Nancy, and Yanet graduating from Cherryville High School and Oscar from North Iredell High School in Olin.
Employer Gives Strong Support
Cameron Eaker, owner of Eaker Dairy Inc. and Guadarrama Mota’s boss, wrote a strong letter of support for him. Guadarrama Mota’s son shared the letter with a WNN reporter. In the letter written on June 5th, 2025, Eaker says Guadarrama Mota has been a valued employee at Eaker Dairy Inc. since November 2017, working as the lead herdsman and head manager of 12 employees.
“During his time with us, he has consistently proven to be dependable, honest, and hardworking. Julian is very well respected by both his colleagues and supervisors for his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and professionalism,” Eaker wrote. He also emphasized, ” He is not a threat to public safety—in fact, he is someone who contributes meaningfully to society through honest labor and integrity. It would be a great loss to our company and to our community if he were not allowed to remain in the United States.”
Financial and Emotional Toll
This situation has hit the family hard, both financially and emotionally. Julian Guadarrama shared how much this has affected them. “The biggest challenge has definitely been our current financial situation. Trying to pay for lawyer fees and being left with all of his bills and monthly payments on top of our own bills and monthly payments has caused a lot of stress amongst me and my siblings, causing us to argue at times.”
Communication with Guadarrama Mota has been severely limited, as he is currently being held in a facility waiting to be deported. His son described the difficulty:
“They purposely make it difficult for us to communicate with him, only allowing him 4-minute calls or not even answering the phone when we’re trying to contact the detention facility. This hampers us in trying to figure out some information for our lawyer, along with denying us to communicate with him when that’s all we really want to do.”
Community Rallying Together
The family has made a GoFundMe campaign to help with legal fees. Julian Guadarrama expressed his gratitude for all of the support that has been given thus far.
“The GoFundMe has helped with lawyer fees so far. Seeing the amount of people that have reached out and offered help and have donated has really touched me and my family. I’ve cried about it, thinking about the support from time to time. It gives me hope in the fact that my dad will come back.” He added, “We’re so grateful for everyone, especially those who are sharing the GoFundMe.”
A Call to Action
After moving to Cherryville, the family quickly found a sense of belonging. Julian Guadarrama admits that while it was scary for his family to experience a new life, the people in Cherryville made it worth it. They took them in and made them family. “Me and my family each have our own connections with the people in the town.” he said.
He concluded with a message to the community and shared his thoughts about immigration policy.
“Me and my family have always helped others, especially my dad. He never expects anything in return and does it out of his love for people. I want everyone to know that he is not a criminal nor a horrible person. He’s the best father anyone in the world could ask for, and we really want to bring him home. What is happening to us is inhuman, and if you support it, then it’s not right. Not only here but all across this nation! Change needs to happen soon because if it doesn’t, then my people won’t be the only ones affected by it in the long run; it’ll be everyone.”
Ongoing Issue
This is just one story of many that is part of a national issue happening nationwide as government entities become stricter on Immigration policies. It is important to remain peaceful when addressing these complicated and sometimes heavily debated issues. As these debates continue, listening with empathy and staying informed are essential.
