Walmart and Lowes Bomb Threat Suspect Apprehended

Rutherford, NC (WNN) – On Sunday March 9th, 2025 a bomb threat was called into the Lowes Depot of Forest City NC. After evacuating the store, local authorities proceeded with an investigation. In a press release from 11:02 PM March 9th the Forest City Police Department stated:
“Law enforcement has concluded their preliminary investigation and has found no credible threat…”

Later that week, on Thursday March 13th, 2025 three more bomb threats were called in. This time, one threat was called in at the Shelby NC Walmart. Another two were called in for the Lowes and Walmart in Forest City. The police yet again evacuated all locations and found no credible threat after the preliminary investigations.

Charles Aaron Parris Apprehended

Charles Aaron Parris has warrants secured by the Forest City and Rutherford Police Departments and an arrest was made when he was located in Gainesville, Florida. Previously, Parris had lived in Rutherford County and was developed as a suspect during the investigation. According to the press release Parris was confirmed to be responsible for these and other related incidents.

The Forest City Police Department also expressed that investigations like these put a huge strain on law enforcement and emergency personnel. This particular investigation involved individuals from sixteen different agencies, and multiple counties. They noted they will continue to hold individuals fully accountable for making false reports and threats.
