Cherryville, NC (WNN)— Helaine Davis, the financial secretary at Cherryville Elementary School, was suspended, fired, and arrested on Friday, March 7th. She now faces embezzlement charges.

Felony Charges Filed

Authorities charged Davis with a felony, and they are currently proceeding with the legal case. She remains innocent until proven guilty.

Court Appearance Scheduled

Davis is set to appear before a judge today at 1:30 p.m. at the Gaston County Courthouse.

As of 3/10/25 at 4 P.M

The court appointed a public defender to Davis.

In a statement to a WNN reporter, Davis expressed, “I have never been in trouble before. My family lives in Georgia, so I had no one to bail me out; I had to get myself out of jail. I have no idea what will happen when I enter the courtroom.”
