Families Celebrate Together
Our Wise News Network Team caught up with a family dressed as stormtroopers, who expressed excitement about the night’s activities. “We’re just coming out to have good family fun and enjoy the evening,” one family member said. As they explored the festivities, they shared their anticipation for the food available at the event and confirmed their participation in the costume contest.
Notable Characters and Contest Winners
Among the crowd was the iconic Pennywise, who was eager to scare festival-goers. “The city of Cherryville needed to be scared a bit,” he said, sharing that he hoped to frighten between 20 to 50 people that night. Meanwhile, the costume contest, a highlight of the event, crowned Pinhead as the winner, a choice that many attendees happily supported.
Event Numbers Skyrocket
Dressed As Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus, Mary Beth Tackett, director of the Cherryville Chamber of Commerce, praised the event’s success, noting that attendance had nearly doubled. “The police chief reported over 7,000 attendees,” she said, adding that this year’s event featured a new attraction called Hocus Pocus Alley, which combined two popular themes. “We’ve had a lot of people thanking us for the opportunity to take photos with the characters tonight,” she added.
Vibrant Costumes Steal the Show
The costume contest showcased impressive creativity, with groups and individuals alike impressing the judges. “Pinhead has been in the top three every year,” Tackett noted, praising the work of Tessa, who consistently elevates her costume designs. Among other notable costumes were characters from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “The Little Mermaid,” adding to the festive atmosphere.
Live Music
The 80’s tribute band, Off the Record, contributed to a fun atmosphere by performing live music that captured the Halloween spirit. Their energetic performances encouraged people to dance and socialize, enhancing the overall experience. As a result, the event became a memorable occasion for everyone who attended.
Food Vendors Enhance the Experience
Attendees enjoyed a lot of different foods from local vendors. Talasia, a Chips and Dips Plus More worker, noted the excellent turnout: “It’s been really good. We’ve been getting a lot of people, and it’s been fun.” The most popular items were the barbecue nachos and barbecue sliders, which were the best sellers of the night.
