GASTONIA, NC (WNN) – After receiving a report of alleged animal neglect, Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement (GCACE) rescued a black doodle dog. The dog’s name is Bentley and he was found with severe matting and a wound on his neck.ย
GCACE opened an animal cruelty investigation on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Officials went to a residence on Boulder Court, to investigate Bentley based on reports to animal control.
A press release from the Gaston County Police Department reported the discovery of vultures in the area around the dog. Although GCACE did not observe the vultures during its inspection, the report raised concerns.

Bentley is in custody of GCACE as evidence in the on going investigation. He is staying with an approved foster family that understands his medical needs.
