Wrestling Wraps up Regular Season and Steven Wyatt is Conference Champion in Two Swimming Events

Cherryville, NC (WNN)-  Cherryville hosted a wrestling quad meet with Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, North Carolina School for the Deaf, and Bessemer City. This was also senior night, with the senior team members being recognized. As a team, Cherryville went 2-1 and had outstanding performances turned in by eight members, with Geovanny Martinez going 3-0, Kenny Waters 3-0, Bryson Yarbro 2-1, Jonah Harrison 2-1, Mason Powers 3-0, Kaleb Pendleton 3-0, Maddox Carrigan 2-0, and Alvin Ibarra 1-0.

Southern Piedmont Conference Swimming Championships

  Shelby High School was the site of the 2026 Southern Piedmont Conference Swimming Championships. Steven Wyatt of Cherryville High School captured two first-place finishes on January 21, 2026. He won the conference championship in the 200 short freestyle with a time of 1:59.58, setting a personal best. He also took home the 400 short freestyle Championship by finishing in a time of 4:20.76. Steven had already qualified in two events for the upcoming NCHSAA 1A/2A/3A Western Regional Swim Meet to be held on January 31, 2026, at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte, NC.
