Cherryville, NC (WNN) - For those who watched the Coyote, Road Runner, and other Looney Tunes characters on Saturday morning growing up, this one is a must. Yes, Coyote vs. ACME is a live-action cartoon movie featuring slapstick comedy with all your favorite Saturday morning cartoon characters, with good visuals and a solid storyline. Opening day was August 28th, 2026.
Wile E. Coyote decides to sue the Acme Corporation, blaming them for all the tool and gadget failures, which cause him to botch the Road Runner captures. He goes all out for years to catch the Road Runner, but to no avail, for which he blames ACME. He hires a personal injury lawyer, Kevin Avery, played by Will Forte, who is just as dysfunctional as the Coyote himself. Wile E. Coyote and Kevin go up against ACME's lawyer Buddy Crane, played by John Cena, and ACME's CEO Foghorn Leghorn. The Coyota still does not speak in the movie, and the Road Runner only beeps, but both have a lot to say. Other Looney Tunes characters make an appearance, such as Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Tweety, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and others. I won't go into much deeper detail so as not to give the plot away. The movie has many twists and turns, and the ending may bring a tear to your eye.
Warner Bros. produced the film at approximately $70 million, shelved it in 2023 for a tax write-off, and had no plans to release it. After significant backlash in the movie industry, Warner Bros. sold the movie to Ketchup Entertainment for $50 million, incurring an approximate $20 million loss. Hence, the tax write-off. Coyote vs. ACME keeps trending up and may very well turn a profit, becoming Ketchup Entertainment's largest release. Ketchup Entertainment is a small independent distribution company located in Los Angeles, California.
It's a good, family-friendly PG-rated film with your favorite Saturday-morning characters. It may be a little too deep for your very young children, but older kids and adults should like it.
1 Hoot - Weak story and/or poor execution.
I rate it a 4 out of 5. Coyote vs. Acme is a good movie to laugh at and escape into the Looney Tunes world with live-action. If you see it, let me know what you think in the comments on social.
