Cherryville, NC (WNN)- On Friday, December 5th,2025, Downtown Cherryville was transformed into a winter wonderland for the Annual Very Cherry Who-Ville festival.
Despite the temperature being in the mid-30s, visitors thoroughly enjoyed all there was to offer. Kids got to take photos with the Grinch and Santa, while families enjoyed different food vendors and explored the vendor market.
Overall, there were many things for visitors to see and do. Below is a recap of the event.
Twelve food vendors lined up on Main Street, along with 30 craft vendors. The variety of food was almost endless, as food vendors sold burgers, Reuben sandwiches, livermush, pizza, BBQ, and more.
Craft Vendors sold a variety of items, including air fresheners, T-shirts, and wreaths. Some main street stores and restaurants were also opened later than usual to accommodate the crowd.
One notable restaurant that is always open for Who-ville is Home Folks Cafe. Every year, they sell Green Eggs and Ham, which, contrary to popular belief, is quite popular among attendees. Last year, co-owner and Chef of the Restaurant, Janet Long, told our WNN team that the green eggs come from a green egg tree outside in the gazebo mini park.
Every year, for Who-ville, Santa and the Grinch are known to make appearances. Santa's Workshop could be seen in front of Home Trust Bank, while the Grinch was seen at his lair in the Gazebo mini park.
When long lines begin to form, you'll almost immediately know it's the line to meet one of these iconic holiday icons. Neither disappoints, making children smile and laugh, giving them a memory that promises to last a lifetime.
Both have vastly different personalities, with one seeking to steal Christmas and the other spreading Christmas cheer. However, one thing is for sure: they both bring joy to children far and wide.
Who-ville has definitely grown over the years. This year brought several exciting new features. Emily Dellinger, the City of Cherryville's Event Coordinator, mentioned the attractions.
"There were four attractions this year, thanks to our great sponsors. Snow-Mazing, Grinch-mas Tree Bounce House, The Who-Ville Express train, and Mount Crumpit, We also had Cindy Lou Who's Play Area in the Mini Park".
The attractions were spaced across the festival district to draw the crowd to all sides of Who-Ville.
Not only were there fun things to see and do throughout, but there was also a chance to learn more about Cherryville. Both the Cherryville Historical Museum and the C. Grier Beam Truck Museum were opened to the public, offering visitors an opportunity to see history.
The newly renovated Cherryville Historical Museum provided a "sneak peek" of things to come by displaying artifacts from Cherryville's history, including Cherryville Eagle typewriters, items from past New Year's Shooters, and firefighter gear. There were also signs on the walls that provided more insight into the history of Cherryville, and one room showcased art by Cherryville students. After leaving, it was clear that visitors could walk away saying they learned something about the town they may have never known before.
According to Historical Museum officials, more exhibits are expected to be completed in 2026. Currently, no opening date or hours have been set.
Meanwhile, at the C Grier Beam Truck Museum, visitors got to experience the early days of trucking. Fun Fact: The Museum is housed in the original gas station where Carolina Freight began. Visitors got to explore over 7500 square feet of vintage trucking memorabilia covering over seven decades.
It's safe to say that this year's Who-ville Festival was a success, thanks to the efforts of many vendors, restaurants, museum workers, shop owners, and attendees. If you missed this year's festival, you'll have a chance to attend next year. Keep an eye on the Cherryville Chamber of Commerce's Facebook page for updates when they become available.
As for moments to share, Dellinger had this to say. "Who-Ville would not have been complete without our amazing team of volunteers, the electrical department, and the public works department. I couldn't do it without all of their help setting up decorations, helping with vendor setup, and running attractions during the event."
