Shelby Police Department Provides Statement Regarding Deceased Individual Found Near Creekside Clock

Shelby, NC (WNN) - On Monday, July 13, 2026, the Shelby Police Department provided a statement to WNN regarding the deceased individual who was reported behind the Creekside Clock on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. 

"On July 8, 2026, officers with the Shelby Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a deceased individual in a wooded area behind the 1000 block of East Dixon Boulevard.  Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male in his 20s who appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The individual was identified as Lamar Parris, a 21-year-old Shelby resident.  The investigation remains ongoing; however, at this time, there is no evidence to indicate that foul play was involved.  The Shelby Police Department extends its sincere condolences to Mr. Parris' family and loved ones during this difficult time and asks the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers."
