Possible Meteor Streaks Across Western NC Sky

NASA has disclosed that fragments of a possible meteor may have landed in the Spruce Pine, NC, area. If members of the public discover any fragments, they are encouraged to contact Anthony Love, an expert on meteorites from Appalachian State University, at loveab@appstate.edu.

Spruce Pine, NC (WNN) - Early this morning, August 30th, 2024, multiple reports surfaced about a fireball blazing across the sky and a large boom at approximately 1:15 AM in the western NC mountains.

Spruce Pine, NC, has been one of the most active areas in the country for UAP sightings over the years and is also the home of the annual Spruce Pine Alien Festival. This possible meteor may spark even more interest in the growing festival.
