Officers Arrests Suspect in Pitchfork Stabbing

Lincolnton, NC (WNN) - In the late evening hours of July 20, 2026, deputies with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported stabbing at a residence in the 2100 block of Laboratory Rd, Lincolnton, NC. 

Upon arrival, deputies located a female victim suffering from several stab wounds caused by a pitchfork.  The victim was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Hospital, where she received treatment for her injuries.  The suspect, Nicholas Andrew Tompkins, age 29, had fled the scene. 

Detective Glover obtained warrants charging Tompkins with:

• One Count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Inflicting serious injury

On July 21, 2026, deputies located Tompkins, and he was taken into custody without incident.  Tompkins was served with the outstanding warrant and initially received no bond.  After his first appearance in court, Tompkins remains in the Lincoln County Detention Center under a $ 3,000 bond.
