Kate Barr’s Can Win Campaign Brings Game-Changing Primary Message to Gaston County

Posted

North Carolina - Voters in Gaston County will have two opportunities in February to hear directly from Kate Barr, the unconventional candidate in the Republican primary for North Carolina’s 14th District.

Barr’s viral 2024 campaign for State Senate was a protest against
gerrymandering. She declared her loss the day she filed, after newly drawn maps placed her in a district no Democrat could realistically win. Now, Barr is taking on extreme gerrymandering again by fighting where it actually counts: the Republican primary. This time, she says, she can win.

By running in the Republican primary against the incumbent who drew North Carolina’s extreme congressional maps, Barr says, she is challenging corruption at the only point where accountability still exists.

“This system is designed to make people give up and believe their votes don’t matter. That’s a lie,” Barr said. “Voters in Gaston County have real power, and on March 3rd, they can help change the shape of Congress.”

Barr will attend the following events in Gaston County:
● February 4: Gaston Business Association Candidate Forum and Town
Hall, Gaston Christian School, 5:30 to 7:30 pm
● February 9: Gaston County Town Hall hosted by the campaign, Gaston
County Library, 6:30 to 8:00 pm

The lines were literally drawn to protect the incumbent’s own seat, making the District 14 primary the only place voters can actually hold him accountable. Unaffiliated voters and Republicans can vote for Barr, and Democrats can still change their registration to Unaffiliated before the February 6 deadline.

“We’re well beyond red versus blue,” Barr said. “This is about people versus power. If you’re not happy with how things are going in our country right now, I want you to know that your vote on March 3rd can have a real impact. I hope voters from every party show up, ask hard questions, and hear why this race
matters. Just do not sit this one out.”
