Cherryville, NC (WNN) - Did you know when Cherryville will celebrate Juneteenth? While today, June 19th, marks the historical end of slavery in America, the City of Cherryville will celebrate it on Saturday, June 27, 2026!
Unlike previous years, this celebration will not be at the Gazebo Mini Park or during the middle of the day. This growing celebration will be at Bill Edwards Park, from 5 PM to 8 PM. This park is located at 103 Old Post Road, and it will have plenty for families to enjoy. Children will be able to enjoy the mobile gaming truck, play on inflatables, and, of course, enjoy the park's regular amenities. Adults will be able to shop with local vendors, drop in on the food trucks, and enjoy the guest speakers for the event. It is recommended to bring a lawn chair to fully relax at this evening of fellowship.
Following Juneteenth on June 20, 2026, the African American Museum of History and Culture will unveil its newest exhibit. This is a uniform from a soldier who was at the Battle of Normandy, which you can see for yourself at 6 PM. To attend, head to 300 S Firestone St, Suite P, Gastonia, NC 28052. This event is not the only upcoming museum event honoring American history; the Gaston County Museum is also hosting its own event soon.
In the Dallas town square on July 4, 2026, the Gaston County Museum of Art and History will be hosting a celebration from 12 PM to 2 PM. This is located at 131 West Main Street in Dallas, NC. At 2 PM, the event on the square will wrap up with a parade. However there are many activities before that, such as a bake off, which you can read about here.
Two more events will be occurring in Cherryville soon, the first of which is Cherryville Little Theatre’s performances of We Will Rock You. This is the second weekend and the last weekend of the show directed by Becca DeGregory, so be sure to get tickets here. To visit, head to 301 W Academy St, Cherryville, NC 28021. The remaining times are below:
The city will also see the return of one more thing we think you’ll enjoy, which is the Cherryville Farmers Market. The market started June 16, 2026, but you can head to Cherryville’s Gazebo Mini Park any Tuesday to enjoy fresh produce and crafts. This is located at 220 E. Main Street in Cherryville, NC.
