Faith and Remembrance at the Heart of the Day

As the day kicked off, Dale Tyre, Co-Chaplain of Anderson Motor Speedway, hosted a Sunday church service for the crowd. Museum owner and organiser Phil Combs asked Tyre to speak about Forgiveness and making amends. Tyre told those in attendance, "Forgiveness is not about condoning the wrong that was done, nor is it about forgetting the pain. Instead, it's about releasing that grip that the past has on our present."

Combs explained why he held the reunion: "This is about leaving at the end of the day feeling better than when you got here." He emphasized that the event's special sense of community comes from friendships, not fame.
