Gastonia, NC (WNN) - The Gastonia Police Department announced on Monday, August 3, 2026, that investigators have identified a suspect in the July 5 arson at the Dollar Tree on South York Road.
According to police, a male entered Dollar Tree on the Sunday after July 4 and intentionally set a fire inside the store. The fire resulted in an estimated $1 million in damages to the building.
Police have identified the suspect as a 14-year-old male. No additional information has been released as the Gaston County District Attorney's Office and the Department of Juvenile Justice work on the next steps.
