Community to Rally for Stronger School Funding Ahead of Commissioners Meeting

Gastonia, NC - June 2026 - As concerns continue to grow regarding public education funding in Gaston County, parents, educators, students, and community supporters will gather on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, for a peaceful demonstration calling on local leaders to make public education a higher funding priority.

Organized by the Gaston County Education Alliance, the demonstration will begin at 4:30 pm at the corner of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way & Highway 74, in front of the Gastonia Convention Center. Participants will begin walking together at 5:20 pm on public sidewalks to attend the Gaston County Board of Commissioners meeting that is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
