Thursday 9-25-25 Cherryville v/s East Gaston

The fans in Nixon Gym were treated to an epic five-set battle; unfortunately, Cherryville fell a little short to 4A conference foe East Gaston Warriors, 3-2. The first set was a fiercely contested battle. The ladies of Cherryville pulled it out 25-23.

The second set was the same, with an even more dramatic edge-of-your-seat play. Late in the set, Cherryville trailed 24-21; however, these young ladies did not back down. They stood strong and kept battling back. The score was tied three times, 24-24, 25-25, and 26-26. The scrappy Ironmen were able to put it away 28-26 for a 2-0 lead. Once again, the third set was a tight contest. It went back and forth for much of the set, but East Gaston was able to snatch this one away 26-24.

Cherryville never stopped fighting; however, it appeared the outstanding effort from the first three sets took a little too much out of the Ironmen. The warriors of East Gaston were able to win the final two sets 25-19 and 15-8. The win improved East Gaston to 16-4. Cherryville dropped to 10-6 overall and 6-6 in conference play. Currently, they are tied in fourth place with Lincolnton.

Next week, the Ironmen have a huge conference game on Tuesday against Highland Tech, who currently leads the conference with a 12-0 record. On Wednesday evening, Stuart Cramer invades Nixon Gym, and then Cherryville travels to Burns on Thursday. Come out and support these young ladies as they work their way toward the playoffs.
