Cherryville, NC - On August 6, 2026, at approximately 6:02 a.m., the Cherryville Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the area of 1410 E. Church Street in Cherryville.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel immediately initiated lifesaving measures. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian, Kimberly Raven Locklear Lowery, 31, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision.
During the investigation, traffic in the area was temporarily diverted to allow emergency responders and crash reconstruction personnel to safely process the scene. Following a comprehensive investigation, it has been determined that no criminal charges are expected to be filed against the driver involved in the incident.
The Cherryville Police Department appreciates the patience, understanding, and cooperation of the public during the temporary roadway closure. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Cherryville Fire Department, Gaston County EMS, Gastonia Police Department Reconstruction Team, and the Gaston County Police Department for their valuable assistance throughout this investigation.
Most importantly, the Cherryville Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Ms. Lowery during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic loss.
