Atrium Health Discovers Bats Inside Hospital

Lincolnton, NC (WNN) - According to sources, bats were seen inside Atrium Health Lincoln Hospital, located at 433 McAlister Rd, Lincolnton, NC, earlier this week. Officials are worried about the health and safety of patients and healthcare workers alike. 

As of this time, around 30 bats have been captured.  In North Carolina, bats are a protected species. They will be handled with care as they are removed from the facility. It is unclear whether these bats carried rabies. Anyone who may have come into contact with them should seek medical attention immediately.

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services is currently handling the situation.
